DIRECTOR OF HOSPICE OPERATIONS

Scope of the Job:
This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will be based in Richmond Virginia. The Director of Hospice Operations will be responsible for the overall operations of the Hospice agency. You will be entrusted to lead and manage an inter-disciplinary team of hospice care providers ensuring the highest level of care in an efficient and cost-effective manner.You will be expected to manage all aspects of the operation resulting in meeting or exceeding company goals related to quality, operations, finances and employee retention. This position supports business development and market growth strategies of the organization.
Assume full legal authority and responsibility for the management of the hospice, the provision of all hospice services, its fiscal operations, and continuous quality assessment and performance improvement.
Assume ownership of all aspects of hospice operations of the hospice agency. Includes management and oversight of clinical processes, regulatory compliance, financial outcomes and operational procedures for hospice agency
Through effective leadership and management of the hospice operation and its resources, be responsible to meet/exceed benchmarks related to quality of care, financial performance, operational efficiency and employee retention.
You will ensure that the hospice program is in compliance with all company policies/procedures and all applicable federal, state and local laws, and accrediting organization, regulations, State Board of Nursing and Standards of Practice. You will maintain knowledge of regulatory guidelines, and recommend operational changes as needed.
Maintain ongoing liaison with the governing body, staff members and the community through appropriate communication.
Develop, implement and evaluate clinical operation policies and procedures.
Ensure that each patient and family receive the necessary care and services outlined in the plan of care.
Ensure staffing/coverage to provide sufficient personnel for delivery of patient/family services, including on-call, pursuant to company policies and guidelines.
Plan for and ensure comprehensive orientation and ongoing education of the clinical professional and paraprofessional staff.
Ensure compliance with Agency Quality management program.
Responsible for all aspects of Human Resources.
Participate in the budgeting process and manage expense accordingly.
Serve as a liaison with vendor and contracted providers. Monitor the quality of services provided by these vendors/agencies.
Participate in local, state, and national hospice organizations activities.
Perform on-call professional duties.
Serve as local compliance liaison to ensure compliance with company, federal and state requirements.
Must be a Registered Nurse with a current state license
Able to participate in Medicare/Medicaid programs
Must have current CPR certification
Must have healthcare management/ leadership experience, 2 years hospice preferred.
Must have experience in providing services to terminally ill patients
CHPN certification preferred
